What is the community CRM?

The community CRM is the shared, up-to-date record of every person in your community, their contact details, and the support they receive.

What is it?

The community CRM is the shared contact record for your community. It stores one record per person. Each record holds the person's name, contact methods, accessibility preferences, tags, and a history of notes.

The CRM stands for "community relationship management". It is the foundation for almost everything else in Community OS. Events, RSVPs, referrals, and advocacy cases all point back to a person record.

When do you use it?

You use the CRM whenever you need a reliable record of someone in your community. You use it to:

  • Find a person's contact details quickly.
  • See the history of support and notes for a person.
  • Tag people by interest, group, or need.
  • Link a person to events, referrals, and other records.

You also use it when someone joins the community. Adding a person record at the start makes later work faster and more accurate.

Example

Aroha is a coordinator. A new whanau joins the community and wants help finding events. Aroha opens the People menu and creates a record for the whanau's primary contact, Hana. She adds a phone number, Hana's accessibility preferences, and the tag "New whanau". A month later, Hana asks about volunteering. Aroha opens Hana's record, sees the notes, and adds a referral to the volunteer hub.
