This glossary defines the controlled vocabulary used across the Community OS user documentation. Every definition is in plain language. The style guide sets the rules for using these terms.
Terms
| Term | Definition |

| beneficiary | The person receiving support. The subject of the records that describe them. |
| trustee | A person a beneficiary trusts to act for them within set limits. |
| delegate | The trustee named on a delegation record. |
| delegation | The record that gives a trustee authority over a scope of records, within set dates. |
| consent | The beneficiary's permission for someone or an app to access a collection of their records, at read or write level. |
| consent grant | The record that stores a consent decision and its status. |
| support plan | The beneficiary's record of goals, preferences, services, and appointments. |
| support arrangement | The record that assigns a support worker to a beneficiary for a period. |
| support worker | The person who provides support to a beneficiary, such as James. |
| coordinator | The person who sets up support arrangements, such as Aroha. |
| provider | The organization that employs the support worker, such as Provider A. |
| DID | Decentralized Identifier. The permanent digital address of a person, an organization, or a service. |
| scope | The set of records a delegation covers, such as the support plan. |
| collection | The set of records a consent decision covers, such as the support plan. |
| permission | The rule that names what one thing an account can do with one kind of record. A permission has a domain, an entity, and an action, such as crm.person_record.read. |
| tenant | The community, organisation, or workspace that owns a set of records in Community OS. A tenant keeps one group's records separate from another group's. |
| read | Permission to view records. |
| write | Permission to view and change records. |
| active | A status that means a record is in effect now. |
| revoked | A status that means a beneficiary or trustee ended a record before its end date. |
| expired | A status that means a record passed its end date. |
