Create and distribute a survey

Build a survey with questions, publish it, and review the answers people send back.

Purpose

A survey collects structured answers from a group of people. This guide shows you how to create a survey, add questions, publish it, and review the responses.

Who this is for

This guide is for administrators and coordinators who want to gather information from the community in a structured way.

What you need

  • A clear goal for the survey.
  • The questions you want to ask.
  • The audience you want to reach.
  • Access to the Surveys menu.

What you will do

  1. Create the survey.
  2. Add the questions.
  3. Set the question types.
  4. Publish the survey.
  5. Share it with the community.
  6. Review the responses.

Instructions

  1. Open the Surveys menu from the main navigation.
  2. Select New survey.
  3. Enter the topic in the Title field.
  4. Select Add question.
  5. Write the question in the Question field.
  6. Choose the question type, such as short answer, multiple choice, or rating.
  7. Add the answer options if the question needs them.
  8. Select Save question.
  9. Repeat for each question in the survey.
  10. Select Save.

To add branching logic:

  1. Open the survey.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Set a question to show only when a previous answer is a specific value.
  4. Select Save.

To publish and share:

  1. Open the survey.
  2. Set Published to on.
  3. Select Save.
  4. Share the survey link with the people you want to answer.

To review responses:

  1. Open the survey record.
  2. Select Responses to see the answers.
  3. Review each response and the answers to the questions.
  4. Export the results if you need them for reports.

What happens next

The survey shows its questions and the answers it received. You can see how many people responded and what each person said. The survey stays linked to its responses so you can review them at any time.
